What is the Spacefast MCP server?

The Spacefast MCP server lets your AI agent publish what it makes and hand you a live link, without leaving the chat.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI apps use to work with outside tools.

ChatGPT calls these tools apps, and Claude calls them connectors. Both reach the same Spacefast server.

Without MCP

  1. Your AI writes the page in the chat.
  2. You copy the code into a file on your computer.
  3. You pick a host and make an account.
  4. You upload the file and wait for it to go live.
  5. You go back to the chat for changes and start over.

With the Spacefast MCP server

  1. Your AI writes the page in the chat.
  2. You say “put it on Spacefast”.
  3. The live link shows up in the chat, ready to share.

MCP hosting in three steps

You only do the first step once. After that, any chat can end with a live link.

The whole flow in 15 seconds
  1. 01

    Connect your AI app

Add Spacefast with one address or one command, then sign in. That’s the whole setup.

  2. 02

    Ask in your own words

Ask in plain words at the end of any chat. Your agent sends the files, waits for the build, and tells you when the site is live.

    put this on Spacefast

  3. 03

    Share the link

Send a share link to anyone, or make the Space public. When you ask for changes, the same link updates, so nobody needs a new address.

What can your AI agent do on Spacefast?

Almost everything you’d click through in the Spacefast dashboard, your agent can do from the chat.

Copy a prompt, fill in the green parts, and paste it into your agent. It’s the easiest way to deploy from an AI agent without having to learn another tool.

What comes with every Space?

Every site your agent publishes gets its own Space, and each Space comes with the extras you’d normally piece together yourself.

Its own link

An address like mellow-fox.space.fast from the first publish. Add your own domain whenever you’re ready.

Version history

Every publish saves a version with its own fixed link. Rolling back takes seconds because nothing is rebuilt.

A database

A MySQL-compatible database in every Space, for sign-up lists, stock counts or anything your app needs to remember.

File uploads

Store what visitors upload. Files live with the Space and load from the same network as the site.

Traffic stats

Views, visitors and top pages for the last 48 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days, with no tracker to add.

Comments on the page

People leave comments right on the part of the page they mean. You or your AI can answer them.

Visitor sign-in (Private Beta)

Let people sign in without building login yourself. It follows the Space’s access rules.

Transactional email (Private Beta)

Send receipts, invites and magic links without signing up for another email service.

Private Beta

Is it safe to let an AI agent publish your site?

Yes. Your agent only gets the access you give it, and anything that could change a live site waits for you to approve it in Spacefast.

  • Private by default

New Spaces open only for you and your team. Knowing the address isn’t enough to get in.

  • You choose the access

When you connect, pick read-only or agent access and which teams it covers. You can narrow what an agent asks for, never widen it.

  • No keys in the chat

You sign in with OAuth. Your AI app never holds a Spacefast API token, so there’s no key sitting in a chat log.

  • An off switch for every agent

Revoke one app in Connected apps, or press Stop all agent access to cut off every agent at once.

What each access level allows

Brand-new publishes go straight through, so you’re not clicking OK all day.

Is Spacefast ready for enterprise teams?

Yes. Spacefast for Enterprise is backed by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, and adds SOC 2 compliance, SAML single sign-on, SCIM and audit logs to everything above.

Connect any MCP client

  1. Add a remote MCP server to your client’s config with the snippet below. The key name varies by client.
  2. Sign in with OAuth when your client opens the browser.
  3. Ask your agent to publish.

Using several agents? sf setup agent writes the config for every client it supports.

  • { "mcpServers": { "spacefast": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.spacefast.com" } } }
Any client guide

No install? Use one prompt

Any agent that can fetch a web page can set itself up. Paste this into the chat:

  • Fetch https://spacefast.com/setup.md

Your agent publishes to a private address and gives you a link to claim the Space. Unclaimed Spaces normally expire 33 hours and 20 minutes after creation or the latest publish that changes files, capped at 30 days from creation. Claim the Space to remove anonymous expiry.

Is the Spacefast MCP server free?

What can you publish with an MCP server?

If your AI can make it, Spacefast can put it online.

Made in ChatGPT

A landing page

Describe your product, and ChatGPT writes the page. Plain HTML goes live exactly as your AI wrote it.

Made in Claude

A slide deck

Claude turns meeting notes into slides. Your client opens one link on any device, with no file to download.

A browser game

Games and interactive demos publish as they are, so people can play straight from the link.

pixel-run.space.fast
Made in Cursor

A full app

Apps built with Next.js, Astro, TanStack Start or PHP are supported too, and they go live with the same one message.

The five tools

  • publish

Uploads files, a folder or an archive. Returns the live URL, a fixed version URL and a receipt.

  • operation_status

Tracks a publish that’s still building, so your agent knows when it’s live.

  • show_space

Read-only views of deployments, domains, traffic, source files, history, comparisons and build logs.

  • execute

Runs one program against the Spacefast API for domains, DNS, access and settings. It pauses when an action needs your approval.

  • resume_execution

Picks up a paused action after you approve it.

Local publishes skip .env, .git, node_modules, .ssh and key files, so secrets stay on your machine.

Frequently asked questions

What is an MCP server?

An MCP server gives an AI app a new skill, like reading your calendar or searching your files. The Spacefast MCP server gives it the skill to publish and manage websites.

Does ChatGPT work with MCP servers?

Yes. Spacefast by Automattic is listed in ChatGPT’s plugin directory. Once you approve access, ChatGPT can publish what it makes.

Can I take my site somewhere else later?

Yes. You can download the files from any version Spacefast keeps. Static sites usually move to another host as they are. Apps built on Spacefast runtimes may need some code changes.

What is the difference between an MCP server and an API?

Developers write code against an API. An MCP server packages tools so any AI app can find and use them on its own. The Spacefast MCP server sits on top of the Spacefast API, so nobody has to write integration code.

Give your agent a place to publish

The next thing your AI makes can be live before you close the chat.
